Catholic Charities Achieves Reaccreditation!

The team at Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich has achieved national accreditation through the New York-based Council on Accreditation (COA).

In a portion of a letter received from Jody Levinson-Johnson, President and CEO of the Council on Accreditation stated “Congratulations! On behalf of the Council on Accreditation (COA), I am delighted to inform you that Catholic Charities, Diocese of Norwich, Inc. has been reaccredited. Reaccreditation is a tremendous achievement that demonstrates that your organization is recognized as a provider that continues to successfully implement high-performance standards and, as such, is delivering the highest quality services to all of its stakeholders. “

At the announcement of this news, the staff of Catholic Charities erupted with applause and cheers. The staff was thanked for their hard work, dedication, and efforts over the last year. This achievement demonstrates the staff’s commitment to provide the highest quality of care to those we serve.

COA accreditation means that Catholic Charities’ programs, services, administration, and management have been rigorously evaluated and meet best practice standards. Achieving reaccreditation was not easy; it took the agency over a year to complete this challenging process. During that time, COA reviewed all aspects of our program service and administrative aspect of our agency.

So why get reaccredited?

Accreditation demonstrates Catholic Charities’ commitment to quality. Accreditation is regarded as one of the key benchmarks for measuring the quality of an organization. Preparing for reaccreditation allowed Catholic Charities to review and identify its strengths and areas for improvement across all aspects of our business and more importantly within our client-facing program.

Accreditation creates distinction among competition. Catholic Charities' reaccreditation will set the agency apart from other social service providers when competing for grant funding. It demonstrates the agency’s commitment and dedication to improving outcomes and safety for those they serve.

The most important reason for Catholic Charities to retain accreditation is that accreditation drives continuous improvement. Accreditation demonstrates the agency’s commitment to remaining compliant with industry standards and best practices; containing costs, and practicing quality performance improvement.
