Pregnancy & Parenting Support

A Hand to hold along the way of your new and exciting journey providing confidential support and information to new and expecting moms and dads.

We know that being a new parent can be an overwhelming and confusing time. Whether you are in your first trimester or have already delivered God’s little gift, we are here to help you along your path.   Anyone who is expecting a baby can receive assistance from the Pregnancy/Parenting Program. We welcome both mothers and fathers-to-be.

Services we offer:
  • Confidential information and support
  • Monthly support group
  • Referrals to other needed services
  • Assistance with baby basic needs (car seats, diapers, blankets, clothes etc.)
Referral Assistance:

Catholic Charities can assist you with the completion of medical insurance applications, applying for WIC, (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children), applying for childbirth classes, and acquiring baby equipment. We can also provide you with referral information about pregnancy and a variety of issues.

Monthly Support group:

If you are a parent-to-be, or parent of an infant one year and under, you can expect major challenges starting from before the child is born and throughout their infancy. The undeniable truth is that raising children and providing for a family is not an easy task. However, you are not alone. Catholic Charities has a program that can help ease the stress of pregnancy and infant parenthood.  Our monthly pregnancy/parenting support group is led by our caseworkers who discuss various topics relevant to pregnancy and infant care.  You will be able to meet other new and expecting mothers and fathers to grow and learn together.

Topics can include:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Parenting Tips
  • Child Development
  • Variety of Other Issues

Mother's Milk Bank

A milk bank collects breast milk from mothers who have more than their babies need.  They then send the milk to Mother’s Milk Bank North East which screens, pasteurizes, and tests the milk, after which it is dispensed primarily to premature and sick babies whose mothers do not have enough milk for them.

THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS!!!

Without the support of our sponsors and supporters, we could not provide the baby clothes and cribs that new mothers receive through this wonderful program.

Norwich Council of Catholic Women has been supporting women in need since the council founded Catholic Charities Diocese of Norwich in 1921. The group's dedicated support helps clothe newborns, care for mothers, and create the best scenario possible for some of our most vulnerable neighbors. The group hosts an annual Baby Layette that generates many of the clothes and diapers Catholic Charities gives out to new mothers.
